Corkscrew Removal (pics from page 1)

Now then, I went down there at around 5pm tonight to have a nosey, and joy of joys I managed to get these epic shots! Enjoy!

Image

Image
Block brake (just before the station), station bits, op cabin

Image
The piece of track to the left is the large turn between the main reduction brake/transfer track and the block brake before the station, the banked piece to the right is from the final turn before the main reduction brake.

Image
Station structure.

Image
Train casually chilling.

Image

Image
Possibly the last ever pic of this standing at Flamingoland!

Image
Station = gone.

Image
Block brake, supports, and ground beams removed.

Image
Moving parts (brake shoes, lift motors and chain) not removed yet, however all of the wiring has been removed.

Image

Image
This is where the banked piece of track and it's ground beams was removed to allow crane access.

Image
Ultra, ultra nerd shot; a track proximity sensor mounting.

Thanks for viewing!

Ah ok, there was something sensor-ish attached there anyway!

Sad at another loss of a classic but at least it isn't being destroyed.

Quite a big space, perhaps a replacement coaster?

Hopefully there'll be a new major coaster to go there, Corkscrew's footprint is actually huge for what it is, you could have fitted Magnum in there easily! I'm hoping that they'll develop the knackered old tarmac underneath the ride into something a little bit nicer to look at, even if they don't place a ride there for this season.

Going back down today to take some more photos, if I'm allowed anywhere near the site. Yesterday I got down there via the football field at the top and walked through the overflow car park, I didn't cross any perimeter fences and nobody asked me to leave, so I should be okay today.

Great photos, thanks for taking the time to head to the park!

I couldn't be happier to see the back of Corkscrew; it's not a classic coaster by any means. It's just an old, uncomfortable, heap of junk.

Im not sure i want to see the corkscrew plot empty. Looking forword to seeing something new on that patch of ground. Maybe there will be a little extention to the park onto the coachpark/Caravan Receton area?

We might even see something wooden as the area is quite large!

RCDB updated today corkscrew as Defunct.. hope they list the park in france that its going to... always would like to see it in its new home!
Cant say that magnum's new colour scheme dose it any justice!

Some more pics from this morning!

Also, here is the album for the photos I posted yesterday, on Facebook.

I'll try and get down again tomorrow to see what's cracking, if not I'll try and get there before the end of the week!
